Windmill Pointe Park Children’s Pool Renovations

The Foundation’s project initiative for 2025 is the Windmill Pointe Park Children’s Pool Renovations. Windmill Pointe Park provides a variety of amenities that can be utilized by the families who reside in Grosse Pointe Park. One of these amenities includes the zero-depth wading pool located to the northeast of the Olympic-sized swimming pool. This zero-depth wading pool is often frequented by families with babies and young children who wish to play in the water at a depth more suitable for their age and activity level.

The zero-depth pool and its fountain water feature were first provided by the Foundation as one of its projects in 2008. Now that 17 years have since passed, the pool is due for renovation. It has also been noted that the fountain water feature causes blind spots around the pool such that children on the other side of the fountain cannot be seen. As such, the Foundation has selected the pool renovations to be its project initiative for 2025. The pool renovations are anticipated to include pool resurfacing, the addition of shade structures, removal of the fountain, and the installation of kid-friendly water features. The water features will be selected such that they are appropriate and approachable for even the youngest children. The Foundation will work with the Parks and Recreation Department to finalize the scope and details of the renovations and to obtain and review quotes from contractors to perform the work.
